Welcome to Settle in Yoga, where everyone, everywhere can find support to settle into inner peace.

Good to see you!

Hi, I’m Jihyue (Jee-hye, she/her). I was born and raised in South Korea and now live in the U.S. Yoga has helped me stay calm and strong during the difficult transition of leaving my home country. To me, it feels like a soft hug for my mind.
I started Settle in Yoga because I wanted to share this warm, grounding feeling with others—especially with people who are new to yoga, who are settling into a new country like I am, and anyone who wants a gentle, safe place to begin.

My classes are for:
- People who are new to yoga.
- People who feel shy or nervous in big yoga studios.
- Immigrants and non-native English speakers who want simple and clear yoga guidance.
- Anyone who wants to breathe, move slowly, and feel at home in their body.
Through Settle in Yoga, you can practice from your own space and still feel connected with others.
You are welcome here.
About me
I am happy to answer your questions about my services, workshops or upcoming events.

Hi, I’m Jihyue (Jee-hye, she/her). and I am here on a mission to make yoga accessible to everyone to find a journey toward their flexible mind, regardless of age, gender, race, body size, or physical ability. I'm especially passionate about sharing yoga with individuals settling in from other countries. It is a mission close to my heart as someone originally from South Korea now living in the US. Through Settle in Yoga, I aim to support people from diverse backgrounds by making yoga accessible and inclusive for all.
What yoga means to me
Yoga is helping me find peace in life’s ups and downs, like a soothing balm for the mind. Yoga is not about self-improvement—it's a tool to becoming more aware of my thoughts and feelings, so I can choose how to respond to life’s challenges. It nurtures a kind, curious, and loving bond with myself. This care through yoga helps me in my life away from my home country.

My yoga journey
I discovered yoga during my sixth year as a user experience designer, through a meditation retreat offered by my company's wellness program. For four days, I unplugged from all devices and immersed myself in meditation, gentle yoga, and mindfulness near a quiet beach. The experience left me feeling mentally refreshed, but I struggled to maintain the practice once I returned to my busy routine.
It wasn't until years later, when I casually joined a yoga class at a community center, that yoga’s deeper impact resurfaced. Until then, I had viewed yoga as mostly a physical activity, despite my previous retreat experience. This time, I felt how yoga could bring calmness, resilience, and a sense of empowerment in daily life. It became a personal anchor, offering me moments of peace and helping me navigate each day with more ease.
After moving to the United States, I continued practicing yoga and eventually found "The Yoga Connection," a community offering yoga for immigrants and refugees. Being part of this group gave me a sense of belonging and inspired me to deepen my journey. I completed my yoga teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center and later volunteered to share yoga with this community. Now, I aspire to make yoga more accessible for immigrants and refugees, focusing not on perfect poses but on cultivating a flexible and peaceful mind.

Inhale
Take a deep breath in. We often use this when lifting or opening your body.
“Inhale, raise your arms up.”
